Woah. I know the grosses haven’t been that high, but I figured they were going to stick it out through the winter. Guess not.
Broadway, it seems, has eclipsed Playboy as the place to make Hollywood pay attention. There was a time when female movie stars who felt they were being ignored by the industry took off their clothes for Hugh Hefner’s magazine. Now they brush up their Shakespeare — or Schnitzler or Miller — and hit Gotham. Of course if you can manage to be naked while appearing in a production with cultural cachet, as Ms. Kidman did, then you’re really in business.
“Plus, there’s more Sondheim on the way, most prominently a Broadway revival of West Side Story that will feature Spanish-language dialogue and lyrics. (“West Side olé olé,” he says drily, when I bring it up. He thinks it’s “a great idea,” and says Lin-Manuel Miranda, of In the Heights, is in line to translate his lyrics.)”
I was skeptical on the idea of translating more West Side Story lyrics into Spanish, but if there’s anyone I’d like to see try, it would be Lin.
It was about disco and having to go do that. That’s about it.
I do believe—and it sounds immodest—that certain stuff improves when you listen to it more than once. That’s all.
For 27 consecutive weeks, LuPone played Saturday evenings at midnight (following her 8 PM performance in Evita) at the now-closed nightclub Les Mouches. Nearly 30 years later a recording of that acclaimed concert act will be released on the Ghostlight Records label.

OMG. Exciting.
Also that is why they call it LuPwn-ing, folks. Because seriously, it’s not a big deal for her to belt her way through ‘Rainbow High’ (and a million other songs) 6 times a week. She’ll just add a late night caberet show for shits and giggles. Ain’t no thing.
Even though the last incarceration of Bounce was apparently a little bit of a cluster-fuck, and regardless of how this version does, any ‘new’ Sondheim show is cause for celebration. Especially with Cerveris and Gemignani. Huzzah!

good choice. good choice.
[At Phantom of the Opera] In case of rips or tears, there is a full-time stitcher on hand, and a large board resides in the wardrobe department to keep track of the whereabouts and repairs needed for each costume.

Interesting. I really enjoy this Ask Playbill.com feature, they always have answers to things I was curious about and would never know who to ask.
