so the guy in the deli near work i sometimes go to (but haven’t been in a while) just spoke to me in spanish. and then apologized when i gave him a really puzzled look. this is the second time in a week someone has spoken spanish to me thinking i would understand. odd.

get up the nerve to be all you deserve to be.

i walked into the office at 9 am on a monday morning and quit my job.

i am leaving august 15th. i’m going to grad school, the media studies masters program at syracuse.

i feel free.

i mean a had a good hundred pounds on her, so i think i could have easily managed it. she was torturing it in the way little kids often behave around dogs, (the too much love variety) but this one weighed about three pounds so it couldn’t escape. the dog was fairly good natured about it, but she’s going to snap his neck if she keeps it up. the parents were too invested in themselves and shopping to take care of either of their four children or their dog. outlet malls tend to bring out the best in people i guess. i mean a had a good hundred pounds on her, so i think i could have easily managed it. she was torturing it in the way little kids often behave around dogs, (the too much love variety) but this one weighed about three pounds so it couldn’t escape. the dog was fairly good natured about it, but she’s going to snap his neck if she keeps it up. the parents were too invested in themselves and shopping to take care of either of their four children or their dog. outlet malls tend to bring out the best in people i guess.

super fun day

me: ugh i have to schedule this huge meeting

which is going to be actually impossible

    chloe: hmm

maybe you should schedule it as like "super fun day"

that way everyone will want to come, so they'll clear their schedules

and then you'll be like "oops sorry, i meant really important meeting day"

what a very special time for me

    lea: ...what a night

me: late december back in 63

    lea: *dances

    me: we are so cool

    lea: fuck yes we are

chelsea has been gone yesterday and today. my gchat and i miss her (this is from the gchat archives)

me: so how's the boredom over there?

chelsea: not so much bored anymore

    me: doing work?

    chelsea: attempting to

    Its me vs. excel

    and excel is winning

    me: oh boy

maybe i should just join the circus

Like to travel? Enjoy working with animals? This is the job for you. The Kelly Miller Circus needs an energetic person to help care for our ponies, llama, and camel. Job requires traveling with the circus, (housing and meals provided). Previous experience working with animals preferred. Position involves some heavy lifting.

Animal care giver

overheard at the nero reading last night.

chelsea: "Stab her with his real sword?"

    *moaning ensues onstage*

    lea: "METAPHORICAL sword?"

    *pause* "

    lea: No, real sword."

Agh! There is nothing worse than wanting to find full-text of an article that appeared in The New Yorker, because half the time the ones you want don’t exist. Their own measly archives on their site don’t cover it, and I got into Academic Search Premiere, found the article and found this - “This database normally includes full text of articles available from this publication. However, this particular article is not included at the request of the rights holder.

Thanks to my job I got myself into LexisNexis (glad that’s half the reason I took a job at an Academic Institution) and nothing. I can not find the stupid article in Nexis. This line appears at the end of the abstract of the article on The New Yorker site - Many New Yorker stories published since December, 2000, are available through Nexis. Lies.

Does anyone know if LexisNexis Academic has everything? Or is it some watered down light version? Is this my problem or do The New Yorker archives just suck that much? I have the exact citation and publication date, so I know it’s not a search parameters problem.

confidence! and aaa as backup.

- my dad via text. this was his response after i got my car battery out of my car, charged it in my apartment, put it back in the car and got the car started. but i expressed that i was mildly afraid to turn the car off.
