The B.A. from Georgetown is probably why you were rejected. There is such a thing as being overqualified. Also you probably wouldn’t have stayed around long enough for you to be worth the investment in training you. And like so many situations, I think Ann Patchett says it best in Truth and Beauty:
“I started looking for work as a waitress, but I couldn’t get hired. My resume included a master’s degree and several publications, including a short story in the Paris Review. By the fifth resturant I figured it out. I gave myself one year of junior college and seven years of solid food experience, operating on the assumption that no one ever checks references anyway.
