kid you gotta get a gimmick
July 7, 2008

Agh! There is nothing worse than wanting to find full-text of an article that appeared in The New Yorker, because half the time the ones you want don’t exist. Their own measly archives on their site don’t cover it, and I got into Academic Search Premiere, found the article and found this - “This database normally includes full text of articles available from this publication. However, this particular article is not included at the request of the rights holder.

Thanks to my job I got myself into LexisNexis (glad that’s half the reason I took a job at an Academic Institution) and nothing. I can not find the stupid article in Nexis. This line appears at the end of the abstract of the article on The New Yorker site - Many New Yorker stories published since December, 2000, are available through Nexis. Lies.

Does anyone know if LexisNexis Academic has everything? Or is it some watered down light version? Is this my problem or do The New Yorker archives just suck that much? I have the exact citation and publication date, so I know it’s not a search parameters problem.
